Firstly, I can guess that the total number of readers of this post is ZERO. The reason being is that at the time of writing, this blog is still relatively new and that no one knows about it yet! So let me dive right in and state the reasons WHY I started this blog:
- If you have read my About page you will realise that I have been ‘in’ the Make Money Online scene for several years now and starting this blog now gives me a platform to present my findings and knowledge to all those that want to read about it.
- Build a credible resource site that ‘beginners’ can come to and find the relevant knowledge, tools and motivation to make money from blogging. I’ll be totally upfront and tell you now, that I am NOT a ‘guru’ or expert in this field, but anything I don’t know I will forward you to someone who does!
- Provide readers with REAL Case Studies and experiments on making money from blogs. Coming from an academic background, I know that theory without application is not much use; this is why I believe case studies are important.
- I will bring to you Interviews with the ‘Insiders’ and those successful at making money online, especially those that make money through blogging.
Now I know the above sounds rather plain and what ‘every other blogger says’ but I have confidence in myself and know that I can add value to the ‘market’ and can see myself enjoying it in the process. The Internet is the ultimate leveller and this means that ‘information’ wins. If the content and information I put on this blog is no good then no one will take notice and site visitors will leave as quick as they got here!
You see, I know how important ‘credibility’ is in this industry and I have personally been ’round the block’ to know what it takes to be successful. I have discovered WHAT it takes to make money online and I will cut to the chase to show you whats needed.
Finally, during my journey I have basically come to know of the ‘A List’ bloggers and every other prominent blogger within the Make Money Online niche. The fact is most of what they teach is crap! They are more concerned with building their brand than helping people make money on the Internet; this might come across as a stark generalisation, but it applies to the majority of these so called ‘gurus’. Now its not all doom and gloom because I have discovered some ‘underground‘ Internet Marketers that are quietly making a killing online and are just happy teaching people for free. There will be many ‘introductions’ to these kind folk throughout this blog and trust me you’ll love me for for it!

After a long journey through the online money making minefield I found my forte in niche blogging and making money through blogs. I have set up and still own many niche blogs, but decided to setup this ‘flagship’ blog to inform people of this brilliant way of making money on the Internet.
Now, there are about a million ‘make money online’ blogs out there (well maybe not a million) and it has become quite a minefield. There are the so called ‘A List Bloggers’ like Problogger, Shoemoney, Copyblogger, John Chow and the like along with a select underground Internet Marketers who know what they are doing.
But one of the first things that these ‘gurus’ will tell you is to avoid setting up a ‘make money blog’ – I got this very same message drummed to me. This might be OK with some people and in fact, makes some sense. To highlight the competition in this niche, let me state a few stats:
1. Type ‘Make Money Online’ into google and it’ll return 168 MILLION results. This shows that there are a lot of folk writing about this fascinating subject.
2. Using the Google Keyword Tool, I found that there are 246,000 Global Monthly Searches (exact match). This means that there are nearly a quarter of a million searches in Google alone! Break this down and you’ll find that there are 8,200 searches per day.
3. Finally, using the same keyword tool, I found that the ‘Estimated Average Cost Per Click (CPC)’ for the above term is $2.94. This tells us that there are lot of advertisers out there willing to pay big bucks and more importantly how valuable this market is.
All the above tells me and you two things. Firstly, the competition is fierce and secondly, the market is lucrative. Also, this is a hungry market, especially with the global recession. Who wouldn’t want to make money, and making it online is extra special.
Personally, I decided to ignore the messages of these A List bloggers and ’set up shop’. Some of the reasons are stated in my post Why Did I Start This Blog but to be entirely honest the key reason is that I absolutely love the concept of making money on the Internet. I was once asked what one thing I would take with me to a deserted Island (you know them dumb questions you get asked at job interviews) and I replied with ‘my laptop’. My friends always have a go at me inciting that I take my laptop to bed – but they don’t know I’m secretly making a nice living online.
But I didn’t want to become another wishy washy make money blog and I thought long and hard to analyse the market and find out whether I can offer something different. As with any business, you need to offer something unique and implement that in your strategy. I have many ideas and they’re all inside my ’special scrapbook’. My core message is that making money from niche blogs is the way to go and this will be the basis of this blog. I am quietly confident that newcomers will find something useful within this blog. Maybe they’ll even use this knowledge to make a buck or two?
